Abstract :

The aim of this study was to determine the technological value of 12 wheat varieties classified in different quality grades: A (Akteur, Alcazar, Finezja, Legenda, Ostka Smolicka, Tonacja), B (Garantus, Nateja, Nutka), C (Belenus, Markiza, Rapsodia). The research material came from Research Centre for Cultivar testing and was diverse in terms of cultivation (basic agricultural techniques – a 1, advanced agricultural techniques – a 2). The studied wheat varieties were assessed for grain quality characteristics including bulk density, weight of thousand grains, content of vitreous grains. Wheat varieties belong to the quality grade A, compared to other quality grades, were characterised by higher values of bulk density and weight of thousand grains, with the exception of variety Alcazar. In most of the wheat varieties tested, higher bulk density and weight of thousand grains for grain came from advanced agricultural techniques (a 2) compared to basic agricultural techniques (a 1), although the differences were not always statistically significant. For seven of the studied varieties (Akteur, Alcazar, Legend, Tonacja, Garantus, Belenus, Markizas) a higher content of vitreous grains was noted for the advanced agricultural techniques. Most of the varieties studied showed no statistically significant differences in the content of vitreous grains when changing the agricultural technology level. Statistical analysis of measurement results showed significant differences in terms of wheat varieties in respect of studied physical properties. The study showed significant variation of wheat varieties in their physical characteristics. Pearson correlation analysis showed positive correlation between the weight of thousand grains and the bulk density in basic agricultural techniques (a 1). No correlation was recorded between the weight of thousand grains and vitreous grains in both variants a 1 and a 2.
