Abstract : | The aim of the research described in the paper was to determine the best possible parameters of densification process of mixtures ofoat bran and potato pulp that would allow the preparation of the technology of production of fuel (fodder) pellets from those wastes. The research was performed on a work stand SS-3, with an “open densification chamber-densification piston” working system, using an open chamber with the diameter of 8 mm and length lo = 47 mm. During the research the influence of the content of potato pulp (zw = 10%, 20% and 30%) in the mixture of potato pulp and oat bran and of the densification process temperature (tp = 50, 70 and 90oC) on the course of the process (maximum densification pressure obtained during the densification process) and on the density of the produced pellets was determined. The research results made it possible to conclude that the most favourable addition of potato pulp to oat bran, from the viewpoint of the pellets quality, is 20 % addition which allows to obtain satisfactory density of pellets (above 900 kg·m-3). Such density of the pellets produced makes them a valuable and balanced solid fuel. The results of the research allowed to determine the preliminary identification of parameters of the realization of the densification process in a pellet mill with a ‘flat die – compacting rollers’ working system. The performed research allowed also to formulate detailed directives for production technologies of fuel and fodder pellets, which resulted in the submission of a patent application by the author of the present paper. |
